The Gestring Family Portrait

Can You Feel The Love?

We could!

It isn’t everyday that every member of your extended family can get together at the same time! It is a hard thing to do it requires a commitment from everyone involved. Generally this happens because one or two people realize how much everything has changed. They value the connections.  Grandma and Grandpa announced prior to Christmas they would like a family portrait as their gift for the following year.

What a great idea it was! We were honored to be selected for this family event.

Family is something that we value too. Our mission has been to create images that will last for generations and be created to become family heirlooms. The images are a way to tell the story about the people who lived before you or, even more simply, that is how dad looked when he was younger. This is Great Great Grandma and Grandpa!  I get it!  Our desire is to give families the ability to share their story through the images we create.

These days are always fun, sometimes these events are planned, other times they can be more spur of the moment. Either way, take the time to create memories that will be enjoyed for generations!

We usually get together before the main meal, everyone arrives early and we create the images. We’ll have a consultation with you about colors, and ideas. We often check out locations in advance when we are not using one of our studio locations. We want your family to be as comfortable as possible.

The Gestring Family was awesome! They’d planned in advance, everyone was prepared and while we broke out into smaller groups, everyone else could hang out and catch up on what they had been up lately.

What groups do we do?  That is completely up to you.  We are there for you!

When your family is fabulous, you really love being together!  Everyone’s family is growing, this year this is how their family looks!  Next year?  Well, it is sure to grow!  What fun!

You’ve really got to enjoy the journey and create memories along the way!  There is nothing better than being around people who genuinely appreciate each other.

Hugs and kisses bundles of joy, these young families have many things to look forward to over the years, they will be able to look back on these images and remember when!  What beautiful young families!!

Families are always active, even though the nest may be empty, it was quite evident that there is always no place like home.  Mom is always the heart of the home.  In this family it is certainly true!

When you love someone, be sure to hold on tight and enjoy your journey, life has a way of passing by and the next thing you know, everything is different.  We really like taking as much time as we can to make something special.  This couple is adorable!

Even though they are different, you can still tell that they have fun together, brothers are only young once.  They’ve each got their futures unfolding before them!

Can you say Legacy!  What a beautiful Legacy the Gestrings have created!  I am sure they never imagined all of the lives that would be created because of their love.

Great Grandma, Grandma, Mom and Me!  Four generations of family.  It doesn’t get much better!

When you’ve got sisters, there is nothing better in this world than always knowing that someone has your back.  This mom loves her girls.  I wonder when the last time was that they had their pictures taken all together?

The family that plays together stays together!  This family is super fun!  Can’t you tell?  We sure enjoyed our day with them, and we feel so blessed to be a part of making something special for them!  We really believe that family portraits are so important.  The unexpected is right around the corner.  You’ll always be glad you did when you get together with us.  Give us a call so you aren’t later wishing you had.

Moments Make Memories!  Our creations will live for generations, and your story will be told.

Thank you to Brenda who found us and put her faith in our abilities to create just what her parents had in mind.

I think the thing we are most excited about is when she handed her parents the book she had us create for them, that her dad started to cry.

So happy!

Don’t leave your family portrait’s to chance!  Portrait photography is an important part of every families heritage, sharing with future generations stories and images of the past.  Finding yourself in someone elses eyes.

It isn’t what you do or say, it is sometimes all about who you spend your time with.  Who you are with at those treasured moments as you develop in life, learn new things and become the person you will eventually be.  Family portraits are treasures we love to create.

As sisters you grow up together, fight each other, make up, defend each other, teach each other and love each other.  You are one of a pair you go hand and hand down the road of life and you’ll always know each other is there.  Sisters are special.  You are only young once!

The family who plays together stays together, the Bengston Family knows how to have fun!  They enjoy the outdoors, small town living, running to the city for a play, a concert, or a weekend with friends.  They spend their evenings at home cooking, enjoying family dinners, and making sure that they stay a part of each others busy lives.

We just love this family!!

They are growing up!  It was only yesterday it seems and they were just little sprites.  Life changes so fast.  We love documenting the changes that happen in your lives!  We haven’t shared every year with them, we will do that soon..  Here is the first year we created images for their family.

Images by Jason and Tonja 2013 All Rights ReservedIt is always important to have a great headshot!  Professional images designed just for you can be created at your Family Portrait Session, let us know what you are needing.  Of course, we can always set up a time just for you if you need the perfect images!

Mrs. Bengston is always fabulous!  We sure love creating images for her!
Dancing together down the road of life, swinging hands entwined, make strife fly by, and bluebirds sing while the wind blows softly and seasons ring, the years float by and time moves on, your hands hold tight as more grab on.  Soon you’ll see your families grown, they aren’t so small and are having their own.  Your hands grow spots and young ones sprout, its a day at a time and it all flies by.

We love what we do!!   We’d love to create for you!

Blessings,

Tonja and Jason

Angel Guardians in Omaha Nebraska Invited Images by Jason and Tonja to Help Out!

We are family!

We are family!

Angel Guardians, A Place to Grow a Place to Go!

Of course we love doing great things!

We also like doing great things with great people!

Having a great place to do them with great people is even better!

Ensuring that great people get to do great things long after we are gone is the greatest reward!

Angel Guardians is that place.

Angel Guardians is full of great people! They have a great environment that has been created through hard work perseverance and sheer determination.  Life is a puzzle isn’t it?  Don’t we all need a place to figure out where we fit in?

Abilities!

Abilities!

When you look at all of the reasons why they couldn’t the Malone Family saw all of the reasons that they could.  They started it and are now passing it on to grow!  Did you know they love volunteers?  It is a great place to fit in and be accepted.

It isn’t an easy road to walk, caring so deeply for those that may be different than you, those that society doesn’t understand, and when there is a pile of red tape involved things can get even trickier.  The road isn’t with out bumps and they’ve hit one.  But if the past is any indicator, they are going to rise over this one and become even better!  This is their bump!  Channel 7 KETV NEWS

It is an important road.  This is a big bump.  Your help and influence would be beneficial.  A great thing to do would be to contact your state senator to voice your support for this program.  Even better, invite them to have lunch with you at the Free Lunch Cafe!!

Those who have the least are likely to offer the most.

I think that is something valuable. When you look at this community from the outside you surely may see that these are the least capable… what you learn when you open the door is that they are the most capable.

Their giving goes 100% day in and day out. Their hearts are wide open and you are invited to become a part of this magical place. There are significant things that happen here!

Someone is going to start speaking to others for the first time.

No longer alone.

No longer alone.

Someone is going to give hugs for the first time. Someone is going to get hugged for the first time.

Skills are being taught, that may start with the simplest of things, and then extend to becoming a person who takes on leadership roles and thrives in environments outside of Angel Guardians. You never know how far you can go until you are give the opportunity to soar!

Food Preparation.

Food Preparation.

That is what Angel Guardians does. It gives individuals with physical and mental difficulties a place to become whole!

A place that accepts them for who they are appreciates them for what they can do and develops their abilities further. Their skills are maximized, creating more astute, determined, and powerful individuals, who themselves start affecting change in others.

Everyone of the clients at Angel Guardians is an individual, they are looked at not as numbers but as who they are and what they can do the best, and what they love to do the most. This is tangible.

What is your favorite color?

What is your favorite color?

There is an art center, which produces necklaces, cards, and other gallery pieces that are available for purchase, they have an artist in residence that teaches them different techniques and expands their knowledge. An individual may be suited to beading and love to create wearable pieces. Another, may prefer to sew, or cut, in the sewing center. If they get bored or master one type of skill they can move to a different area every day brings different rotations!  Donate to help the Art Center Here!

One of a kind!

One of a kind!

The Free Lunch Cafe (Learn more) opened while we were there, it is a place where anyone can go to get a free lunch and donations are accepted for your meal. They have great nutritious food that comes from the heart. You’ll be waited on, your water poured, your dishes picked up and your food delivered hot and fresh.

Skills are important!

Skills are important!

The clients of Angel Guardians are also able to participate in social activities. They have a place to come that no one stares at them, thinks that they are different, or that they are out of place. This is in fact their place. The place that they can come, and count on coming to feel important, see their friends and do fun things, like water balloon races, or movie night with popcorn. Play pool or just listen to the music.

Playing Games

Playing Games

Places like this are important. These people are an important part of our society, they give us much to strive for. Unwavering love, the capacity to do their very best at what ever they do. The desire to continue to grow, the drive to be near others and build relationships. Things that are missing in many areas of society today.

The clients of Angel Guardians, teach us all to be more patient, to be more grateful, to be more understanding, and compel us to look at those different from us with as much value as gemstones. Treasured, each one of these individuals have the ability to impact lives in ways that others cannot.

Peace!

Peace!

They deserve to continue to thrive and have an environment where they are able to safely grow and develop their gifts talents and abilities to serve others.  While having a place to be understood is important, it isn’t a place that is designed to hide them from public view or to not be involved in everyday things that others are.  These opportunities are provided and those who are ready and excited to do so can transfer to jobs out in the public sector with extra confidence, skills, and abilities that have been proven over their time training at Angel Guardians.

What is Angel Guardians currently facing?  Find out on this recent news report.  KETV Channel 7

I sew can do this!

I sew can do this!

This all comes at a price. One family started this whole endeavor, and has brought others on board to insure success, change is hard for everyone, and Angel Guardians is undergoing significant changes to stay relevant and continue to provide the best support for those individuals with developmental disabilities and physical limitations.

Angel Guardians Saves Lives!!

If you had a child like this you’d want places like Angel Guardians to be there for them. To know that they were in a safe place, that they were being treated will and that they were given opportunities that challenged them and helped them develop to their fullest potential with out being placed in four walls and housed and medicated.

Talk to your state representative and let them know you’d like this program to continue!

We LOVE Dogs! Domesti-Pups & Our Booth at the Lincoln Lancaster Event Center! Images by Jason and Tonja

It was a Domesti-Pups Dog Diggity Event!

We sure had fun meeting everyone and seeing your fur kids!  What a great event!  Being there with everyone it truly was a fun filled weekend worth all of the work that goes into putting something like this together.

This past summer, I became the recipient of my first successor Service Dog.  My boy Luka now 14 years old is retired, he was my first Service Dog and one of the Domesti-Pups originals back in the day.  He came to me through a series of seemingly destined events.  We made quite the pair, so transitioning well, it has been hard.  You can read more about my journey which I haven’t shared much about on my other blog.  PINKDOBERMAN BLOG

This spring, I found out that Domesti-Pups had a dog for me.  It was welcome news to say the least.  I’d gone through a frustrating period of having to rely on other people to do basic things and I didn’t feel very independent.  My family and friends rallied around us and raised the funds to finish my partnership.

DOMESTI-PUPS
That is where the I LOVE MY DOG EXPO also helps.  This expo held every year for the past 6 years makes it possible for Domesti-Pups to provide the services that they do for people like me and those with epilepsy.  I have a Traumatic Brain Injury as a result of multiple concussions, and some other issues as well that effect my balance, concentration and abilities.  Domesti-Pups fills a niche in the Service Dog industry by training dogs that ultimately partner with those who have seizure disorders, as well as those with mobility issues.

Domesti-Pups also provides an even greater service to the community by training dogs that work as Reading Pups, Edu Pups, and Therapy Dogs.  These are the dogs that you may be familiar with in schools, hospitals, and long term care facilities.  These dogs and their handlers do community service regularly all over the metro area and beyond.

Believe it or not there is a great need for these dogs and others like them.  There certainly aren’t enough Service Dog training facilities that can consistently turn out such great companions and helpers!  Domesti-Pups is well worth your commitment support and donations.

It isn’t all that common to run into someone with one of the graduated Service Dogs.  The class I was in for example most of the recipients were from out of state.  Two of us were local.  It is a fantastic service that they provide and it is a specialty that is needed all across this great country of ours, and I am proud to have another one of the Domesti-Pups Service Dogs.

DUKE:
Let me tell you a little bit about Duke!  He’s my new partner.  He does many things that help me.  Of course Jason is still a main part of my life but Duke is able to take the minutia away and give both of us the freedom to be more independent.  Jason gets the peace of mind that I am not alone, and that I have help if I need it.   Duke walks beside me when I am outside or in new or busy places.  I get distracted and he keeps my feet on the floor.  He picks things up, so if I drop a lens cover, my cellular, or need something off of the ground he grabs it for me.  He also helps me up off of the floor, the more I do things the more tired I become.  It gets increasingly difficult to get myself up.  He also helps me around the house.  Which is handy!  I’ll be adding more about him on the Pink Doberman Blog.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
So a few years ago now Jason got a camera and was having a lot of fun with it, so much fun that he was starting to get asked to formally take pictures, around the same time I discovered that after working to hold a camera again that this was something that I not only enjoyed still, but was able to do.  So I took more classes online and kept improving.  I am not formally trained, and I learn where ever I go and what ever I do.  Soon… well it turned into more.  =D  I now take most of the people and pet pictures and Jason does most of the art.  We each have found our niche!

VOLUNTEERS:
Of course I have a great connection with our four legged friends.  I’ve had a dog from the earliest times in my life that I can remember.  I even had horses and a cow..  Love farm life.  Going through what I have gone through I really am so incredibly grateful to those who take their time to train these dogs.  It takes someone with patience and a gift for serving others.  My dog was trained at one of the prisons in the state.  His trainer was wonderful, and really cared about Duke.  They’d worked together for a long while, under the guidance of Domesti-Pups trainers.

These volunteers work regularly week in and week out with a purpose greater than themselves.  Your support of this organization means that they have the funds to drive to check out potential pups that have what it takes to finish this program.  The pups that they select are rare, they aren’t certain breeds, they are of certain personalities.  This means that they have to go out and search all leads to find the best dogs suited for this type of work.  All dogs just don’t want to work. They only want happy dogs!

OUR EMAIL LIST:
So this year, we were asked why we weren’t having a booth at the expo..   We’d never done a booth before, our photography business is pretty word of mouth and while we do like that, it was a great idea of a way to let more people know about us!  It also sounded fun!  So there we were!  It didn’t go off with out a few bumps..  namely the email subscriptions..  I messed up on the coding information that makes that work.. I didn’t get right, so no one really got signed up although they entered their information.  Boo.  This is now fixed and we’d love to invite you to sign up AGAIN!   Sign up here!!

OUR BOOTH:

A huge thank you to our friend Becky who helped us set up our booth on Friday!  I forgot to get a picture with her in it!  =(

Keenan and Nikki who help us with our photography, they hung out in our booth with us on Saturday!!

We also had the pleasure of having Hannah and Jake help us in our booth on Sunday!!

Here we are, thanks Jason for taking the pictures!!

Everyone who came, let me just tell you we were in LOVE with your dogs!!  We had the opportunity to see so many different breeds!  You might think that an event like this would have fights or jumping dogs or lots of problems?  NOPE!  The dogs who were attending weren’t show dogs they were for the most part family dogs.  We loved seeing all of the pampered pooches and we couldn’t be more excited to see you in the future and spend time with your fur kids!  We know that YOU LOVE YOUR DOGS!!    We loved everyone who stopped by!  Thanks so much!!

I hope you get in touch!  We’d love to do a shoot for you too!

Blessings,
